Student Senate represents HVCC at SUNY Student Assembly; plus elections results

On April 28-30, seven Hudson Valley Community College student leaders attended the annual SUNY Student Assembly at the Queensbury Hotel in Glens Falls. The event provided Student Senate members the opportunity to discuss key issues facing college students with Student leaders from all over New York and gain insights to possible solutions and remedial measures. In addition, the students attended information and Q&A  sessions with the newly-elected executive board of the Student Assembly.

HVCC’s two voting delegates also voted on important resolutions to be brought up to the SUNY Board of Trustees, such as resolution to implement a uniform SUNY policy regarding menstruation hygiene products that was approved. They also elected new members of the executive board of the Student Assembly.

Congratulations to the newly-elected members of the Student Senate Executive Board and Senior Class President — Ameera Aftab, president; Sean Sample, vice president; Lukas Donaghue, treasurer, and Zaid Shehzad, secretary. Elections were held April 26-27.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to your newly-elected representatives if you have any concerns or ideas for the campus!
